After she left her country for Zurich in 1991 with the passport of her brother, she developed her iconic photographic style that is very much based on her personal life and her search for identity she has come to terms with since. Her work illustrates her exceptional and sometimes also violent experiences from all over the world – from Europe to Africa, the US and Japan – through intimate and very energetic explorations; her approach is very direct and unflinchingly honest. |

Whether it is the relationship between the instant and the passage of time (Behind My Face, 1999-present); privacy and exhibitionism (No Strings Attached); freedom and taboo (How God Intended?, 2006); or fear and exhilaration (Heartfelt, 2007); she is committed to challenging and deconstructing conventions of who and what we are as human beings and social animals. |
